Awww, this was lovely! I'm sorry you were struggling with it, sweets, but honestly it doesn't show. I adore how you write smitten!Roman... the intentness, the almost obsessive need to know everything about Deniz, tempered with that equally strong desire not to drive him away - that's so in character and a lovely nod to the scene on the ping-pong table. Part of me would LOVE to read and/or write something where that possessiveness takes a darker turn, but here it's just moving and beautiful and kind of heartbreaking, because he's so careful and desperate not to scare Deniz off. And I just about melted into a little puddle of awwww at the image of ickle!Roman with that kitten. He totally needs a pet!
Also, you've described so well how unconsciously they know each other well already, reading expressions, Deniz knowing that Roman always has something more to say (heh), reacting to the tiniest thing. Oh boys!
Lines I love:
Deniz's voice trailed off while Roman's begged to fly with a barrage of questions.
...with each cautious step teaching Roman the grace of stillness.
and this, because yum: Roman wanted to dart his tongue out and taste them, those curling lips, sweet and decadent as chocolate.
Huh. Re: "the laws might change" - y'know, I was convinced that Germany had actually legalised gay marriage. But I just went and looked it up, and it's a civil union type thing. I remember when that passed but in German I've never heard it referred to as anything other than "gay marriage", lol. So go ahead, Roman, marry your little heart out ;)
