The leaves were turning, Draco noticed as he stepped from the Hogwarts' Express. It seemed early, but Draco wasn't sure. He hardly remembered how last year had begun, and he hadn't planned on being here this year.

Bowtruckles scampered along the branches above, sending leaves scattering down, blanketing the shoulders of his erstwhile enemy, the Boy Who Still, Somehow, Lived. Draco wouldn't admit that a brief, nearly indecipherable note wrapped around his hawthorn wand -- "thanks for the loan, see you in September?" -- was why he'd returned, but he wondered if maybe, just maybe, this year might be different.

LOL! Is it bad that the first time through I completely giggled at Harry's note? Thanks for the loan so I could off Voldypants--see you at school, mate--you're coming back right? Hee! So like Harry!

Otherwise, I just want to snuggle Draco--going back and taking a chance. Yes, yes, of course this year will be different!

*giggles* And the thing is that you know there's a whole story in Harry writing that note to Draco ... he probably wrote it and rewrote it a zillion times before finally scribbling that one out and sending it off!

LOL! I'm sure Harry angsted over that for hours and now he's standing beneath the bowtruckles and the leaves angsting over whether he should go talk to Draco or not. They're both entirely too adorable.

Thank you! And of course I don't mind a personal comment. I share that belief, completely -- it really wouldn't be like Harry to keep it, I don't think. And I would like to think that after what he saw in DH, after he'd gotten a better idea of what Draco was going through, would have believed Draco should have a second chance.
