Actually, private schools like Hogwarts, and some of the longer-established state schools, tend to have Old Boys' and Old Girls' Associations that do tend to arrange reunion get-togethers. My old school, a girls' state school, has annual meetings and meals out. And universities have alumnus associations that do that kind of thing. So yes, you're OK here!
