You know, I think it's the best fics where the author does not even consciously realise the structuring and imagery she uses, when it just flows out "naturally". But you did make the choice to keep it, to see that it was the most effective way to tell this story.
The slash won't stop, no matter what JFK writes ;-). What I said above for structure goes for characterisation, too, methinks. And it's the the most engaging and fascinating characters where the author does not even realise they are meant for each other, but they are.
